Yesterday was the last Fishing Tourney in Animal Crossing: New Leaf until later this year in October, so we’re taking a look at the tournament today. Keep reading for all of the details on how the Fishing Tourney works in New Leaf:
The Fishing Tourney (or Fishing Tournament) in Animal Crossing: New Leaf occurs on either the second or third (alternating) Saturday of October, November, December, January, February, March, April, and May.
To participate in the tournament, head over to the Town Tree from 9AM to 6PM and speak to Chip. The exact requirements for the tournament depend on the month and an element of randomness. Refer to the list below for details:
Second Saturday of October: Largest submission of any fish
Third Saturday of November: Largest submission of Crucian Carp, Carp, or Black Bass
Second Saturday of December: Largest submission of any fish
Third Saturday of January: Largest submission of Pond Smelt, Horse Mackerel, or Sea Bass
Second Saturday of February: Largest submission of any fish
Third Saturday of March: Largest submission of Crucian Carp, Loach, or Horse Mackerel
Second Saturday of April: Largest submission of any fish
Third Saturday of May: Largest submission of Carp, Black Bass, or Sea Bass
Please Note: When the month states three possible fish, it means that Chip will ask for one of those fish at random for the day, not all of them.
Once you’ve spoken to Chip to learn the requirement for the day, head out across your town in search of the largest fish you can catch! When you think you’ve caught a good fish, run back over to the Town Tree and speak with Chip.
If your fish beats the current record set in your village for the day, Chip will give you a small prize. The prize can be an item from the Fish Series, or a completely random item.
The Fish Series contains the following items:
When the Fishing Tourney ends at 6PM, you’ll want to enter the event tent nearby before 9PM to watch the closing award ceremony. If you kept up your record, you might just win a first place trophy for your effort! Of course, second and third place trophies are available as well if you weren’t so lucky.
Well, that just about wraps up our article on the Fishing Tourney in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. I really like the addition of the closing award ceremony, it’s a lot more personal than just receiving the trophy in the mail! What do you guys think? Leave a comment below!
