New amiibo Camera feature coming in Animal Crossing: New Leaf’s Welcome amiibo Update

While we wait for the more complete details on the Animal Crossing: New Leaf Welcome amiibo Update coming later in the fall, Nintendo revealed a small new feature earlier this month.

The amiibo Camera feature will allow you to take photos of Animal Crossing characters as if they were living in the real world, likely similar to the AR Games application that comes pre-loaded on every Nintendo 3DS system.

Details are light right now, but we expect that you’ll need to scan compatible Animal Crossing amiibo cards to your system “summoning” them into the camera for taking photos. We’re pretty certain this will extend to special characters too and not just villagers, as one of Nintendo’s sample pictures features Isabelle and Digby.

Check out the two sample photos from Nintendo’s Japanese Twitter account below in their full size:

No confirmation, but there is zero reason for us to believe it wouldn’t.
