Japan My Nintendo Store & Nintendo UK Store re-stock Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards, pray for worldwide
The Animal Crossing series of amiibo cards have been effectively out of print for years now becoming increasingly harder (and usually more expensive) to find through third-parties, but there may be hope soon for everyone obtaining these cards at MSRP from Nintendo!
That hope comes from new listings at the Japanese My Nintendo Store where pre-orders have begun for the original Series 1-4 of Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards, plus the 5th series of Welcome Amiibo Cards. These packs of 3 cards each sell for their original price of 330 yen each.
Unfortunately, the Sanrio Collaboration Amiibo Cards are not included in this set of re-stocks, which does make sense as it was recently confirmed the Sanrio cards will have limited compatibility in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. (more on that soon!)
Additionally, we’ve spotted the first, second, and third series of Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards available at the Official Nintendo UK Store too. However, I believe these have been available there as leftover stock for some time, whereas the Japanese re-stocks are a new development and include every series.
Interestingly, the packaging shown online at the My Nintendo Store for these amiibo card packs remains the 2015 style with Happy Home Designer and Amiibo Festival logos, but perhaps this is temporary and the packaging will be updated when they actually ship.
Based on these re-stocks though, it does seem unclear whether Nintendo plans on releasing any new sets of amiibo cards as fans have previously speculated. It’s a little strange given that we will be seeing all-new villagers and special characters, but why re-stock these and not announce any new ones if there are plans?
Time will tell though, we don’t know for sure yet and there is still time left to go! Maybe one small mini-series will be released similarly to the Welcome Amiibo Series just containing the new characters?
Either way, we’re super happy to see Nintendo officially selling these amiibo cards once again for Animal Crossing: New Horizons and hope to see a worldwide re-release for everyone else too! Will you pick up some more amiibo cards if you can? Let me know in the comments below!
