Reminder: The Bug-Off Event Returns Today In Animal Crossing: New Horizons! (Northern Hemisphere)

2 weeks ago 1 Comment

Don’t forget to check on your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island in the Northern Hemisphere as the second Bug-Off event of the summer is taking place today!

You can find the delightful Flick special character outside of Resident Services from 9AM to 6PM on Saturday, July 24th to take part in fun bug catching challenges and special bug themed furniture or clothing prizes. Check out our complete Bug-Off guide here.

Unfortunately, before you ask, the prizes for today’s Bug-Off event are exactly the same as the previous edition in June. That said, it’s still a great opportunity to get some more duplicates or to customize the Spider Doorplate into different colours.

Plus, if you weren’t quite able to make it to 300 Points in total last time for the Gold Bug Trophy prize, you’ve got another shot at winning today! It’ll go great right next to a Gold Fish Trophy from the Fishing Tourney earlier this month.

However, even though the item prizes are the same, there is one small reason that you should still make sure to participate at least once today — Nook Miles! That’s right, you can actually fill out another stamp on your Bug-Off Nook Miles achievement today since one is awarded each time for up to 4 events.

Doing so will grant you some Nook Miles and a set of two new titles for your Passport. We believe exactly what you get will depend on how many Bug-Offs you’ve participated in, but most players should receive the Rebellious and Rebel titles today.

It’s too bad there’s no more unique prizes to unlock in future Bug-Off or Fishing Tourney events after you’ve already played them once though. Even just having a couple bonus prizes that are exclusive per season or month would go a long way to providing more long term value to these events.

Thankfully, there’s still plenty of opportunity for such a feature to be added in the future since Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be receiving free updates for the next year! It wouldn’t surprise us if the developers sensed the lack of interest in these events going forward and made an adjustment like this. Let’s hope so at least.
