Animal Crossing: New Leaf has passed 3.8 million copies sold
Nintendo’s annual earnings report for the previous financial year has been released and with that, we now have the latest official sales numbers for Animal Crossing: New Leaf in Japan and South Korea. Keep reading for the details:
As of March 31st, Nintendo has sold 3.86 million copies of Animal Crossing: New Leaf, including both physical copies at retail and digital copies on the Nintendo eShop. This is an incredible number considering that the game hasn’t even been released worldwide yet.
It certainly will be interesting to see where the sales numbers end up after the game is released in North America, Europe, and other regions. Anyone want to take a guess in the comments?
For comparison, Animal Crossing: Wild World has sold 11.7 million copies worldwide over the course of the nearly 8 years since the game was released on Nintendo DS.
The best official number for Animal Crossing: City Folk is at 3.3 million copies worldwide, but that’s only as of March 2009. Other sources peg the game at closer to 4.4 million.
Anyway, that’s your latest update on the sales of Animal Crossing: New Leaf in Japan and South Korea, and it’s only going to get better as the game releases worldwide in June.
