Reminder: Today’s the Bug-Off Tournament in Animal Crossing: New Leaf!

Now that Animal Crossing: New Leaf has been officially released in all regions, it’s time to celebrate with the first Bug-Off Tournament of the season!

For your information, the Bug-Off is a bug catching tournament which runs from 9am to 6pm on the third Saturday of June, July, August, and September. You’ll also want to catch the award ceremony inside the tent from 6pm to 9pm.

As for tips to help win the Bug-Off, your bugs are judged by rarity, size, and colour/shine. Rarity is assigned by the game beforehand for each bug, the size is random within a certain range depending on the bug, and the colour is completely random.

The goal is to rack up the most points for a bug. It’s based off the rarity, size, and colour/shine previously discussed. Every time you break the record, Nat will give you one of the following: Bug Set item, Ladybug Carpet, Butterfly Wall, or a random item. For the best results, submit your lower valued bugs early in the day, and your higher valued bugs later in the day.

Finally, you will receive a Bug-Off trophy depending on how you place in the overall standings at 6pm. Be sure to check out the awards ceremony, or your mailbox for your trophy prize if you earned it!
