Animal Crossing style plates coming to New Nintendo 3DS model in Japan

You may or may not have heard already, but there’s a New Nintendo 3DS model coming to Japan in October. If you’re wondering why I capitalized New… it’s because that’s exactly what it’s called. Anyhow, one of the exciting new features of the model is the ability to swap out the top and bottom cover plates with new styles.

Of course with Animal Crossing being one of Nintendo’s top franchises lately, especially in Japan, there’s an array of FOUR sets of cover style plates available at launch for the new system. These include an Isabelle (of course) plate, a Timmy and Tommy plate, and two plates with each of the Able Sisters.

Other features of the New Nintendo 3DS is built-in NFC technology (used by amiibo), increased screen size, improved 3D viewing angles, upgraded CPU, and much more. It will be released in Japan this October, with a release to follow in North America and Europe sometime next year.
