Confirmed: Animal Crossing Amiibo Card stock issues in Japan for Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer

It’s been confirmed now that there is definitely a significant stock shortage of Animal Crossing amiibo Cards for the Japanese launch, but more are on the way soon.
We previously reported on a rumour from retailer Play-Asia warning about a possible stock shortage for the Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer amiibo Cards in Japan. At the time, Play-Asia said they had heard from Nintendo that there would be severely limited stock at launch, and that there was a possible delay to the second series of cards to come.
Unfortunately, it looks like there’s some truth to that rumour as this morning Nintendo took to Twitter to apologize to customers for the shortage of stock in Japan for the first series of Animal Crossing amiibo Cards, which have been marked up heavily online (as much as double retail price) and is practically sold out everywhere in stores.
昨日発売しました『どうぶつの森amiiboカード 第1弾』が店頭で品薄になっており、ご迷惑をお掛けしております。来週も追加出荷を行う予定ですので、もう少々お待ちください。

Nintendo assures that another shipment of the cards is on the way for next week, so hopefully this is just going to be a very limited issue and won’t remain for long. It would be incredibly frustrating if this continued into the overseas launches in North America and Europe, which are just two months away now.
