Animal Crossing: New Leaf Welcome amiibo update supports Splatoon and The Legend of Zelda figures

The Animal Crossing: New Leaf Welcome amiibo update doesn’t just support the Animal Crossing amiibo figures as you’d predictably expect.

Nintendo’s brought over some cross-over material with two of their top franchises right now to Animal Crossing as well. Both Splatoon and The Legend of Zelda amiibo figures are compatible with the update bringing new content into Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

First, the Callie and Marie Squid Sisters have their amiibo figures supported! Tapping their amiibo brings Cece and Viche respectively, new villagers cosplaying as the squid sisters. The Inkling amiibo figures are compatible too with the Inkwell octopus villager. Their homes even come with a bunch of appropriate Splatoon furniture.

A bunch of The Legend of Zelda amiibo figures work in Animal Crossing: New Leaf too. The five previously released amiibo from the Super Smash Bros. line and Twilight Princess HD are supported, plus the new series releasing in December later this year.

Scanning these Zelda figures bring new villagers inspired by Wolf Link, Medli, Ganon, and Epona to the campground. And of course, their homes are decorated accordingly as you’d expect! There’s even new tunic clothes from the upcoming Breath of The Wild.

I like seeing these cross-overs in Animal Crossing through amiibo, so hopefully we see even more added in the future! They’re really just an extension of the pre-existing Nintendo franchise items in fortune cookies and taking it to the next level with villagers.
