Can you play Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp? The minimum device requirements, plus available countries

7 years ago 17 Comments

The Animal Crossing mobile game has been revealed at long last, but if you’re using an older device or live in an obscure country, you might be wondering whether you’ll be able to play.

For iOS users, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will be supported on versions iOS 9.0 and higher. In addition to the operating system version requirement, Nintendo notes that this does not include iPhone 4S/5/5c, iPad 2/3rd Generation/4th Generation/mini, and iPod Touch 5th Generation. It seems that the game will only run on iPhone 5S and above as far as phones are concerned.

As for on Android, the game will supported on Android versions 4.2 and higher. However, Nintendo doesn’t provide any more specific information for beyond that and Android devices vastly vary in capability regardless of version. So unfortunately we wouldn’t take much away from that and can’t really promise what it will run on yet. If you can run Fire Emblem Heroes well though, that may be a good guide.

In terms of official country availability, Nintendo tells us Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is available in the following countries:

  • Australia
  • Austria
  • Brazil
  • Bulgaria
  • Canada
  • Croatia
  • Cyprus
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • Estonia
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Greece
  • Hungary
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Japan
  • Latvia
  • Lithuania
  • Luxembourg
  • Malta
  • Mexico
  • Netherlands
  • New Zealand
  • Norway
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Romania
  • Russia
  • Singapore
  • Slovakia
  • Slovenia
  • South Africa
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • Thailand
  • United Kingdom
  • United States

2020 UPDATE: Belgium was removed from Pocket Camp’s list of available countries in 2019 due to loot box regulations.

Finally, regardless of the platform you play on, it’s worth noting that Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp requires an internet connection at nearly all times to play and cannot be enjoyed offline. This is unfortunate but has become fairly commonplace for mobile games with in-app purchases.
