Animal Crossing: New Horizons Aloha Edition Carrying Case for Nintendo Switch Review
The official Animal Crossing: New Horizons carrying case for your Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch Lite is here! Learn everything you need to know about this carrying case and whether you should get one in our full review.
The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Aloha Edition Carrying Case is a relatively basic case for your Nintendo Switch featuring a gorgeous design matching the game’s island aesthetic. On the front side you’ll find a pattern of the New Horizons Leaf on a white background, while the flip side features the same Leaf in a teal color with a aqua blue background.
Those designs don’t end on each side though as the case’s edges are lined with similarly nice aqua and teal colors as well, and the case’s zippers are even painted with matching colors too! All around, the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Aloha Edition Carrying Case has a lovely palette of various blue shades everywhere you look.
Unfortunately, the Animal Crossing design ends as soon as you open up the inside of the Aloha Edition Carrying Case. The case’s interior is entirely a plain black and perfectly identical to other official carrying cases released by Nintendo in the past as far I know.

Aloha Edition Carrying Case Features & Storage
In terms of features, you’ll find slots for up to 5 different Nintendo Switch game cartridges inside the case. There is a small mesh pouch that can be used for storing your Joy-Con wrist straps too, but you’ll probably struggle to fit anything else in there. Maybe a couple extra game carts if you’re okay with them being a bit loose?
Unfortunately, there is no room inside the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Aloha Edition Carrying Case for any other important essentials like the Nintendo Switch Power Adapter. This is by no means a case intended for storing everything you need for your Switch, but rather a light usage case for carrying the system around for the day and returning home later.
As for protection, the Aloha Edition Carrying Case is definitely not the best option if you want your system to be completely safe in any situation. It’s not a hard shell and the material has a fair amount of give. I’d still trust it to keep my Nintendo Switch safe from minor drops and bashes, but it doesn’t give complete peace of mind by any means.
However, the Nintendo Switch screen should be fairly well protected with how the inside of the case has a piece of fabric which flips down over top of the screen when you close the case. The game cart pouches are actually part of this fabric. Even better though, the fabric that flips around in the middle of the case serves an extra purpose.
If you fold up the parts like a tent shape, you’ll actually find yourself with a super handy stand to rest your Nintendo Switch against for easy portable play! It’s pretty nifty and far better to use than the system’s built-in plastic stand. This is definitely a big perk in the Aloha Edition Carrying Case’s favor.
Finally, there is a basic screen protector included with purchase inside the case with purchase if you want that extra bit of protection for your system! I personally have never been someone to use screen protectors on my electronics though, so I can’t really judge its quality, sorry. It appears to be a very basic plastic one though — don’t expect much.
Is The Aloha Edition Carrying Case Worth It?
Whether the Nintendo Switch Animal Crossing: New Horizons Aloha Edition Carrying Case is worth it to you will depend on what you’re planning to use it for. In my case, I mostly bought the case simply to have a cool Animal Crossing collector’s item because I liked the exterior design a lot.
I can’t deny that the case’s interior is definitely lacking in some features for many fans though. It’s quite light between the limited number of 5 game cart slots and the absence of any substantial storage pockets for other important accessories like the Nintendo Switch Power Adapter!
If you’re looking for a case that will allow you to store the power adapter, charging cable, and a greater amount of game carts with you, it’s probably worth exploring other third-party Nintendo Switch case options. I personally use the ButterFox Switch Carrying Case from Amazon for my bulky case solution, but you can find lots of other great options too.
But if you’re happy with just having a simple carrying case with a lovely Animal Crossing design to bring around your Nintendo Switch system, Joy-Cons, a few games, and don’t need maximum protection then the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Aloha Edition Carrying Case will probably serve you quite well. I recommend picking one up for that use case.
And finally, if you just want to have another nice piece of Animal Crossing: New Horizons merchandise around to stare at or keep as part of your collection, I definitely recommend getting the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Aloha Edition Carrying Case for that! It’s pretty much the main reason I own it.
