Version 1.1.3 of Animal Crossing: New Horizons released fixing Balloon Present glitch

Another new software update has been released for Animal Crossing: New Horizons tonight following the Version 1.1.2 update just 24 hours ago!

The latest update brings the game up to Version 1.1.3 (or Version 1.1.3a with Bunny Day) and contains only one bug fix, but it’s a very important resolution for some players.

In previous versions of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, fans were running into a particularly nasty glitch involving the flying Balloon Presents in the sky across your island.

Specifically, when a player reached the 300 Balloons Shot milestone on the “It’s Raining Treasure” Nook Miles achievement, the Balloon Presents would entirely cease to appear and fly across the island. This made it extremely difficult to acquire new DIY Crafting recipes and other items.

Thankfully, this new Version 1.1.3 update to Animal Crossing: New Horizons has resolved the balloon issue according to the official Japanese patch notes below:

Ver. 1.1.3 [2020.4.3]

If the version notation at the top right of the software title screen is “Ver. 1.1.3” or “Ver. 1.1.3a”, it has been updated.

General

• Fixed a bug where balloons would not fly under certain conditions.

Please note that you will need to be updated to Version 1.1.3 to play online multiplayer with other players and access other network features. Local multiplayer can only be played with others on the same version of the game as you.

Your copy of the game should update automatically for you, but if for some reason it doesn’t, you can manually trigger the update by pressing the + button on the Animal Crossing: New Horizons home screen icon, selecting Software Update, and hitting Via the Internet.

And by the way, now that you can finally find more balloons, players will encounter a fun bonus item prize when shooting down and collecting their 301st balloon present! So be on the look out for that.

We’re so happy to see that Nintendo managed to produce a speedy turnaround on resolving this issue and continue to be impressed by the game’s support so far in these first two weeks.
