New Leaf Music In Animal Crossing: New Horizons? This Hack Makes It Possible, But We Wish It Was A Feature
Listening to Animal Crossing: New Leaf’s music inside of New Horizons on your Nintendo Switch? It’s more likely than you think, thanks to more creative modifications created by hackers!
While we love the brand new music in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and find some of the tracks to be the best audio from the series so far, many fans (including us!) understandably have some deep nostalgic for the hourly music from past titles.
In fact, a common feature suggestion we’ve seen going around since launch two months ago has been the ability to select your own pick of hourly music from all past Animal Crossing games! This feature could easily take place through a Music app on your NookPhone for example.

But until the glorious day where that becomes reality in a potential update, the hacking community has this matter covered with a number of different modifications allowing for easy replacement of the music files in Animal Crossing: New Horizons with past game tracks.
These modification hacks have been created for the original Animal Crossing on GameCube, Animal Crossing: Wild World / City Folk on DS / Wii (these titles share hourly music), and Animal Crossing: New Leaf on 3DS meaning all major games are included!
It’s honestly quite a strange experience, but in a very good way, to see gameplay of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and its sound effects overlaid with the background tracks of these classic titles from long ago.

To see and hear these classic tracks in New Horizons yourself, check out the Twitter video clips we’ve embedded throughout this article from Trundleroo who gave them a spin on Twitter!
And going one step further, there’s even another modification that removes background hourly music from the game altogether allowing you to really take in the wonderfully made sounds of nature Nintendo created for New Horizons.
Much as we enjoy the soundtrack, sometimes it’s just a little too loud to be able to fully appreciate all of the lovely sound effects the game has to offer! It’s too bad this isn’t a native in-game option for everyone, or even just an ability to lower the volume.

As always, these hacks are not accessible to the vast majority of players and require a hacked Nintendo Switch to use them, which carries a number of risks and we wouldn’t recommend doing it yourself.
But it’s certainly interesting nonetheless to see what folks have been up to so far and there’s likely much more to come from the hacking community, just like the Star Fragment trees and mystery island modifications we’ve covered recently.
