Stardew Valley Creator Reveals His Next Game ‘Haunted Chocolatier’ In New Trailer

ConcernedApe, the creator of widely popular town simulator Stardew Valley, has revealed his next major project for the first time!

This new game developed by Eric Barone is called Haunted Chocolatier where players will take on running the cogs of a flagship chocolate factory and shop.

You’ll venture out to gather ingredients for the factory, make chocolate, and operate the chocolate shop as well. The essential elements of a ‘town game’ like Stardew Valley, such as meeting and making friends with townspeople appear to be present as well.

However, ConcernedApe does mention that the gameplay of Haunted Chocolatier differs from Stardew Valley in many ways too. He compares Haunted Chocolatier as having more of an ‘action-RPG’ focus than Stardew Valley did, and the chocolate shop will be your focal point, rather than the farm.

In fact, it looks like you’ll even be able to decorate the chocolate shop area like decorating a home, placing the chocolates you wish to sell onto the shop counters with mysterious ghosts helping you out as salespeople.

As seen in the official trailer, but also in comments from ConcernedApe, Haunted Chocolatier will be taking on more of a ‘dark’ atmosphere with an emphasis on ghosts and the fantastical — though it will still remain positive. In his own words, “if Stardew Valley mostly channeled the energy of the sun, Haunted Chocolatier channels the energy of the moon”.

Lastly, lovers of Stardew Valley’s multiplayer co-op feature may be disappointed to hear that ConcernedApe currently doesn’t have plans for any multiplayer elements in Haunted Chocolatier.

When Will Haunted Chocolatier Release?

In terms of a release date for Haunted Chocolatier, ConcernedApe is remaining tight lipped on that matter as he wishes to remain at peace from the pressures that come from an estimated release time. He does say that the game has been in development for only just over a year though, which isn’t a long time in the grand scheme of things.

Currently, only a release on PC is fully confirmed, but ConcernedApe has every intention of releasing the game on other major platforms too. And as for a price, it’s been confirmed that it won’t cost more than Stardew Valley did.
