What’s New & Changed In Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete [Out Now!]

1 week ago 3 Comments

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete is now available worldwide for purchase today on iOS and Android as the one-time purchase successor to Pocket Camp! In this article, we’ll cover everything new in this new version and what’s changed from the original game.

In case you missed the news before, a quick catch up: Nintendo’s long running free-to-play version of Animal Crossing for mobile devices, Pocket Camp, shut down its servers last week. However, the adventure continues with a new paid edition of the game reformatted for offline play without ongoing live service updates — and therefore without any micro transactions!

Import Pattern Custom Designs from New Horizons

In a total surprise not announced by Nintendo until the release, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete has a brand new feature that allows for importing of custom pattern designs directly from the mainline Animal Crossing: New Horizons game!

Just like how pattern work in New Horizons, you can enter an uploaded custom design’s Design ID code starting with MO, or browse a creator’s entire selection with a Creator ID code starting with MA. After importing a custom design, it can be worn as clothing for your Pocket Camp Complete character, or even potentially worn by villagers at your camp.

Given how Pocket Camp will no longer receive new content updates beginning next fall, this new custom design feature is a fantastic new addition from Nintendo to ensure the community can continue to create their own new clothing content into the future!

Leaf Tickets Become Leaf Tokens, In Generous Supply

Although we’ve known for some time that the new Complete edition of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp would remove those pesky micro-transactions, it wasn’t clear exactly how the new in-game economy would function in terms of generosity and how much grinding may still be required to unlock items.

Well, we’ve got good news — Leaf Tickets have been renamed to Leaf Tokens, and amounts have been adjusted drastically across the board throughout the game. You can now both earn Leaf Tokens at far greater quantities, and purchase items or cookies with Leaf Tokens at much lower prices than in the original game.

For example when spending, a single fortune cookie (Pocket Camp’s random item loot boxes) now costs only 5 Leaf Tokens, or 25 Leaf Tokens for a bulk pack of five cookies. In the previous version, these numbers were 50 or 250 Leaf Tickets.

And on the earning side, Leaf Tokens look to be extremely easy to come by, at least compared to what fans were used to in the past. This month’s holiday themed Toy Day Mini-Recital event rewards a total of 950 Leaf Tokens when all of the goals are completed! That’s enough to pick up 190 fortune cookies throughout the month, or 6 per day, under the new pricing.

There are many other ways to earn Leaf Tokens too, including converting 10,000 Bells into 20 Leaf tokens up to 5 times per month and levelling up through the Happy Homeroom ranks. Returning players will find that all of the tutorial-like Goals have been reset too with generous helpings of Leaf Tokens offered as a reward for them.

To state the obvious, this is exactly what we should have expected to see given that there is no longer a profit-seeking incentive of micro-transactions at play — it’d be quite outrageous if Leaf Tokens weren’t easy to obtain. But still, we didn’t know to what degree until now, so it’s a pleasant delight for long-time fans of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp when you consider the night and day difference from the previous currency structure.

Expansive Complete Catalog

In addition to Leaf Tokens, another new currency called Complete Tickets expands further on the newly improved methods to obtain items in Pocket Camp Complete. These tickets are harder to get your hands on than Leaf Tokens, but can be used to trade for any item in the Complete Item Catalog.

This catalog covers pretty much every limited time and event item in Pocket Camp, with the unfortunate exception of a few past collaboration events that are not included in this version. But essentially between easily obtained Leaf Tokens and Complete Tickets, there’s a reasonable easy path to get any item you could possibly want.

Camper Cards & K.K. Slider’s Whistle Pass

Since Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete is no longer an always connected game reliant on an internet connection, the traditional friend list is no more. That’s where the new Camper Cards feature come into play as an alternative method to keeping a feeling of in-game connection with other players.

By scanning a friend’s Camper Pass QR code, they’ll be added into your game’s data to appear occasionally at Whistle Pass, a completely new location on the map found only in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete. When found at Whistle Pass, these scanned players can chat with you, offer presents to you, and help you out in the Shovelstrike Quarry area.

Aside from other players, K.K. Slider has been introduced with Complete as well with concerts held by the man himself in the evening at Whistle Pass!

New Events & Items Still Coming Next Year

Finally, it’s worth mentioning that there will still continue to be a range of new content released in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete up until September 2025. Sure, it’s coming to an end eventually, but it’s nice that the journey isn’t completely over with the launch of Complete this month.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete is now available for purchase on the Apple App Store for iOS and Google Play Store for Android! During a limited time promotion until January 31st, the game is discounted to $9.99 USD or your regional equivalent from the full price of $19.99.

Feel free to share your Camper Card in the comments below with other players for in-game scanning if you pick up a copy!
