Here’s What Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0.1 Changes (Rumble & More!)
Nintendo has just released a new update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons tonight with plenty of adjustments to the game!
The minor Version 3.0.1 Update is now available for download and follows up as the first update since the major Version 3.0 release in January.
Most notably, changes have been made to Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ rumble feedback on Nintendo Switch 2 systems. We previously reported on this topic and how the intensity felt especially strong since Version 3.0 on some Switch 2 controllers.
According to Nintendo, the vibration intensity of rumble on Nintendo Switch 2 has now been adjusted in Version 3.0.1 to match the level experienced on original Nintendo Switch. Hopefully, you can now dig a hole with your shovel without causing an island wide earthquake on Switch 2!
Another issue some players have observed, particularly on Nintendo Switch 1, is some noticeable slowdown in the game’s framerate since Version 3.0. This has reportedly been resolved now and was specifically related to walking out of the new Resort Hotel area.
Other fixes in this update include resolving bugs where Resetti could accidentally duplicate or change fences when cleaning up, Timmy and Tommy could stop following you in Nook’s Cranny, and outdoor clouds could appear misaligned in the sky on Nintendo Switch 2.
Here’s the official full notes for Version 3.0.1 of Animal Crossing: New Horizons in English from Nintendo of America:
Official Patch Notes For Animal Crossing: New Horizons Version 3.0.1 (English)
Ver. 3.0.1 (Released February 18, 2026)
The following updates have been made when playing the game on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch:
- Fixed an issue where the game would run slower than normal after exiting the island hotel to an outdoor area.
- Fixed an issue where, when asking Resetti to clean up the island, fences that were put away or in storage could change into different customizations or be duplicated, and some cleaned-up items could disappear.
- Fixed an issue where Timmy and Tommy would sometimes stop following the player inside Nook’s Cranny.
- Fixed an issue where items could pop out of a rock before the shovel made contact when hitting it.
- Fixed an issue where, after playing with another player on a slumber island, home remodeling or relocation could become unavailable on the slumber island.
- Fixed an issue where the Camera app installation sequence could play when redeeming the Island Designer license at Nook Stop.
- Fixed an issue where some items were displayed in incorrect positions in the catalog used for photo studios and hotel decorating.
- Other adjustments and corrections were made to improve the game play experience.
The following updates have been made when playing the game on Nintendo Switch 2:
- Fixed an issue where clouds near the horizon could appear misaligned outdoors on the island, causing parts of the sky to show unnaturally.
- Adjusted controller vibration intensity to match the level when playing on Nintendo Switch.
Based on these patch notes, it doesn’t immediately appear that there are any notable new features or gameplay changes in Version 3.0.1.
However, the always ambiguous “Other adjustments and corrections were made to improve the game play experience” note leaves open the possibility of small gameplay adjustments. We’ll keep an eye out and update this article promptly if anything comes to light.
Please note that you will need to be updated to Version 3.0.1 to play online multiplayer with other players and access other network features going forward after this update. Local multiplayer can only be played with others on the same version of the game as you.
Your copy of the game should update automatically for you, but if for some reason it doesn’t, you can manually trigger the update by pressing the + button on the Animal Crossing: New Horizons home screen icon, selecting Software Update, and hitting Via the Internet.
