Complete look at character customization in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer

Complete details on how character customization in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer works have been revealed from a new Japanese video.
We can finally confirm now that the “questionnaire” style customization from all previous Animal Crossing games is not present in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, and has been replaced with a proper menu screen at the beginning of the game to customize your character.
The first page of the menu covers your face options: Choose between the different face/eye combinations, eye colours, and of course skin tone colour for the first time in the series! There are 12 different face options, 6 eye colour choices, and 9 skin tone options.
The second page of the menu handles the luscious hair on your head: Pick between sixteen unique hair styles and sixteen hair colours to get the perfect hairdo for your character.
Essentially, all of the choices are nearly exact replications of the faces and hair styles used in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Still, it’s going to be great to have the options all laid out right in front of you at the beginning, instead of fumbling onto Google and following some sort of guide. There’s also the very important addition of skin tone colour for the first time in the series.
Of course, these are only the boy styles. We’ll update this post with the girl styles as soon as we see them, even if they’re almost certainly a copy of the Animal Crossing: New Leaf styles as well. Watch the part of the Japanese video where these screenshots come from by clicking here.
Tell us in the comments below if you’re happy to see a regular character customization menu in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer and whether you’d like to see it implemented in other future Animal Crossing games! I’m pretty mixed on the topic myself.
