A Closer Look At The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Official Companion Guide Coming Later This Month

We have another update today on the upcoming Official Companion Guide for Animal Crossing: New Horizons giving us an inside look at the book for the very first time!

Photos of the completed Animal Crossing: New Horizons Official Companion Guide were shared this week by Future Press, who are publishing the book, on their official website and give us some extra insight into the contents.

Four pages from inside the guide are shown in detail including information on wind patterns affecting balloon presents, details on New Horizons’ extensive cloud types, the beginning of the extensive Meet the Residents section, and the Alligator & Anteater villagers covered in that section.

We’ve cropped out and rotated all of the preview pages from the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Official Companion Guide below to help you decide whether to pick up a copy or not:

The preview pages for the Meet the Residents section of the book covering villagers are particularly interesting given the amount of information that looks to be included! From what we can tell, the following details are available for every single villager:

• Name
• Birthday
• Catchphrase
• Default Clothing
• Personality
• Favorite Styles
• Clothing Colors
• Room Photo

Having a nicely printed book covering all of this extensive information on villagers will certainly be helpful for some players and shows the potential value of a physical guidebook. There are some nice renders for each villager too, including ones we’ve never seen before!

Seeing the villager pages gives us a lot of hope for how comprehensive the equivalent pages for furniture, clothing, and other items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons may be. In the guide’s description, an extensive catalog of every single fashion and interior decoration is promised and we’re hoping Future Press delivers.

In terms of printing details, Future Press says the guidebook has been printed on premium art paper with vivid colors and comes with a premium matte soft touch dust jacket cover on top.

And speaking of dust jacket cover, after our last article there was some confusion as to what the real cover of the guide actually is since it differed from previous photos. Future Press has cleared that up and the photo below shows what the actual book cover looks like without the dust jacket cover!

As we previously reported, the COVID-19 pandemic has unfortunately led to delays in getting the guide printed and shipped out to retailers pushing it past the original release date of early April. The book is now expected to release in Europe shortly and North America later in the month or early in May.

And speaking of delays, many fans have been wondering whether Future Press might consider releasing a digital version of the guide in the meantime. While no announcement has been made, the company says they are discussing the ‘release of some digital content to make up for the waiting time’ and to stay tuned!
