Nintendo Switch Version 10.0.0 adds new Animal Crossing: New Horizons profile icons, controller remapping
A brand new system software update for the Nintendo Switch operating system has been released tonight adding in a few Animal Crossing themed surprises among other new features!
Most notably for Animal Crossing fans, although an otherwise minor feature, is the addition of six brand new profile icons themed to Animal Crossing: New Horizons allowing you to show off even more different characters on your Nintendo Switch friend profile.
The new icons for Animal Crossing: New Horizons focus on a variety of new characters introduced in the game including Wilbur, C.J, and Flick! New versions themed to New Horizons of characters previously available on the Switch have been added for Tom Nook, Timmy & Tommy, and Isabelle as well.
While this isn’t anything huge, we’re always happy to see more Animal Crossing available on our systems! Nintendo could surely go much father than this in terms of available icons for the series though. Why not add some of the most popular villagers, especially newly introduced ones like Raymond and Audie?
In terms of actual new features, the Nintendo Switch is getting a new Controller Button Mapping function that allows players to adjust what buttons on each controller perform different functions.
Even better, you can save up to five different custom button configurations for each of your controllers. That’s perfect for swapping configurations depending on the game that you’re playing!
It’s also now possible to manually transfer some downloadable data like digital games, game updates, and DLC between the system memory and an SD Card. It’s not a huge addition, but previously a complete uninstall and re-download was required to move this data between the two storage areas.
Note that it’s still not possible to move actual game save data, including for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, between the system memory and SD Card. That important save data remains locked to the SD Card for security reasons, unfortunately.
Finally, a Bookmark feature has been added to the Nintendo Switch’s News section allowing you to bookmark a particular news item to find it later.
An Animal Crossing: New Horizons News channel was recently added to the News section providing updates on the recent Bunny Day event and promising news on further releases like the upcoming Earth Day event in late April, so this could prove useful.
