Special Edition Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch Restock Coming This July To Australia & New Zealand

It’s been three full months since the Special Edition Animal Crossing: New Horizons Nintendo Switch first launched back in March to extremely limited supply, without any sign of a restock since then.

After the initial pre-orders sold out in about a week or so, the special edition Animal Crossing console proved to be rather difficult for fans to get their hands on with no official word on any possible restocks from Nintendo — despite the system being advertised as a non-limited edition in Japan.

As a reminder, the Special Edition Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch featured a gorgeous set of two pastel Joy-Con controllers in green and blue, matching white wrist straps, a beautiful ocean pattern on the system’s backside, and the standout white dock highlighting Tom Nook, Timmy, and Tommy on a deserted island!

The dead silence of availability changes today however, with the surprise announcement from Nintendo Australia revealing that a new shipment of the Special Edition Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch is headed for both Australia & New Zealand beginning on July 10th.

Given that the restock in Australia is coming more than three months after the system’s initial launch, it seems likely this might represent a brand new production run of the hardware as it would be odd to randomly release stock from March in July.

That’s very good news for the possibility of restocks of the Special Edition Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch coming to other regions like North America and Europe soon in the future if Australia is getting more systems, like many fans have been hoping for.

The only downside of these restocks though is that Animal Crossing: New Horizons doesn’t exactly have the most user-friendly system for managing island save files right now. Essentially, there’s absolutely no way to transfer your existing island to the new system if you managed to get one, although that’s expected to change later this year.

Of course, you can simply start a brand new island as well, and that option may be very appealing to some players seeing as you are limited to only one Animal Crossing: New Horizons island per system. Beginning a fresh new adventure in Animal Crossing is always a joy too!
