6 More Fun Details & Changes You Haven’t Seen In Animal Crossing: New Horizons Version 3.0 Update

4 weeks ago Leave a comment!

It’s been one week since the Version 3.0 update launched for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but we’re still continuing to discover more fun hidden details and changes throughout the game!

Unique New Hotel Amiibo Dialogue

If you’re someone who appreciates every piece of dialogue in Animal Crossing from different characters, you’ll definitely want to try scanning some amiibo for special characters at the Resort Hotel!

Brand new dialogue for most of these special NPCs has been added in the update, such as the on-brand chatter from Redd about ‘time is money’ in the example above.

What’s more fun is that there are even special lines for characters like Kapp’n who can’t be summoned into the hotel because of their work operating it, and the dialogue reflects this. Be sure to try out all the amiibo you own to see what new things they have to say!

We’ve often heard repetitive or boring chatter as a common complaint over the years about Animal Crossing: New Horizons, so it’s worth acknowledging just how much new and unique dialogue was added in this update surrounding the hotel.

Resetti Deposits Bells Into Your ABD

Resetti is pretty clear about most of his rules for the new Reset Service in Version 3.0. He’ll put items on the ground into your storage, leave your trees alone, and ask where you’d like any flowers to go.

But he’s got one neat trick up his sleeve that isn’t covered in the instructions: any Bells on the ground that he picks up get deposited straight into your ABD account by Resetti! Pretty handy. He also won’t touch any turnips, present items, or lost villager items.

Don Resetti Takes Over Rescue Service

Resetti has previously always been working hard behind the scenes on the Rescue Service available through NookPhone in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, although he’s coy about his identify most of the time.

So, what happens with the Rescue Service now that Resetti has a new job running the Resetti Reset Service on your island? The Version 3.0 update has new dialogue that can play when engaging with Rescue Service explaining just that!

Someone remarks that you might be noticing something different and begins to mention Resetti by name before cutting their speech off to avoid fully revealing his name, then introducing themselves as a substitute who’s not a ‘high-society mole’.

Technically, we can’t say for sure who this new substitute is, but it’s almost certain to be Don Resetti, the older brother of Resetti previously seen in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

In that game, you could build and visit their Reset Surveillance Center underground in your town, where you would sometimes find Don on duty instead of Resetti. It’s a nice touch to see him referenced in New Horizons after this update!

Pitfall Supplies For Mini-Games On Slumber Island

Here’s something that’s a little off the wall and unexpected — speaking to Lloid the Gyroid on a Slumber Island offers a surprising new dialogue option for pitfall seeds!

Selecting this option leads to a series of further options where you can choose from Lloid providing you a generous supply of either pitfall seeds or gold nuggets. As he explains, you can use both of them together to trick friends playing on Slumber Islands into falling into pitfalls or use the gold nuggets as prizes and distractions.

It’s a curious addition because when we think about playing games with pitfalls and other hidden items in the ground, it’s easy to harken back to the famous island mini-games found in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, which made very liberal use of pitfalls in particular for many activities.

In a small way, it almost feels like someone at Nintendo who’s heard the calls for mini-games snuck this in to say ‘hey, we get it, but at least you can make some fun for yourself on Slumber Islands now!’.

Of course, it’s dramatically easier to set up a quick dialogue tree that gives out some free items, than to actually develop a full mini-game feature. But it’s telling that this might still be top of mind for the developers to the point that they’d even think about adding this option. Let’s hope for the next Animal Crossing game? 🙏

Bonus Daily Kapp’n Island Tour

Ever since island boat tours from Kapp’n were introduced in Version 2.0, there’s been a strict limit to adventuring on an island tour only once per day.

With the Version 3.0 update though, Nintendo has relaxed this limitation with a new option to visit a second boat tour island each day, unlocked once you’ve progressed far enough through the Resort Hotel.

After unlocking the option to design VIP Rooms, speaking to Kapp’n after already visiting a boat tour island will reveal this new option. Unlike the first tour of the day though, these bonus second daily tours require 100 Hotel Tickets instead of 1,000 Nook Miles to embark on.

Enter & Exit Resort Hotel For Rare Pier Fish

Since the game’s beginning, some of the rarest fish to catch in Animal Crossing: New Horizons have been those pesky creatures exclusively found at the island’s Pier, like the Tuna and Blue Marlin.

Thanks to the newly built Resort Hotel in Version 3.0 though you can more easily ‘refresh’ the Pier’s fish spawns by repeatedly entering and exiting the conveniently located new building.

No doubt, this is still a time consuming method if you’re unlucky, but an interesting new option nonetheless if you hate farming for manila clams to craft Fish Bait! It’s more effective on Nintendo Switch 2 systems too, due to improved loading times.

That wraps up six more fun new details and changes found in the Version 3.0 Update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. For more on Animal Crossing, check out our latest articles and guides below:
