How much do Animal Crossing amiibo Cards cost in the UK? Probably too much — a look at retailer prices so far

With some online retailers starting to put up their Animal Crossing amiibo Cards listings, let’s take a look at the prices for Animal Crossing amiibo Cards so far in the United Kingdom.
The Animal Crossing amiibo Cards will be sold in packs of three cards in Europe, as well as in Japan where they are currently sold for 300 yen per pack. So, what’s it cost to get a pack of 3 cards in Europe? Potentially quite a lot more than that based on what we’re seeing so far!
In the United Kingdom, three retailers have just put up listings for the Series One Animal Crossing amiibo Cards with a price included. Note that these are the prices as of publishing, they may be different when you read this.
- Amazon.co.uk: £6.26
- ShopTo: £5.86
- GAME: £4.99 or 3 pack for £12.49
- UPDATE AUG 13: Official Nintendo Store: £3.49
For comparison, let me remind you that the cards cost 300 yen for a pack in Japan, which is about £1.50. Of course, you can’t simply directly take a number from a different currency like that, so it’s plenty fair to double it for a price of £3.00. But even if you were to triple that number to £4.50, you would still be paying more for the same pack of 3 cards in the UK!
At the end of the day, it’s clear that the Animal Crossing amiibo Cards are grossly overpriced in Europe so far. I would hope that they eventually will go down to around £3.50-£4.00 to be reasonably priced, but time will tell. What are they going to be priced in North America, with double of the cards included in a pack?
Do you think these prices are perfectly reasonable, or are they asking for just too much? Let us know in the comments below.
