Who is C.J? Target reveals inside of Animal Crossing: New Horizons Journal with birthday tease

One of the greatest mysteries of all time is upon us with the inside reveal of Target’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons Journal pre-order bonus!

The pre-order bonus from Target offering an Animal Crossing: New Horizons Journal with calendar has finally been made completely official on the Target website giving us a look at inside for the first time.

The images of the front are much higher quality than before too, so let’s take a look at all the new photos below…

We didn’t expect to get any real new information out of this journal, but a bit of a mystery has emerged from an entry on the calendar in March. More specifically, the March 7th date features “C.J’s Birthday” which definitely isn’t the name of any previous Animal Crossing character.

The running theory going around at the moment is that C.J stands for Chip Jr as the name for the new character resembling a younger Chip seen in the new key artwork earlier this year. It’s about the most logical explanation based on the information we know, but it could just be a coincidence and C.J is another new character too.

Regardless, C.J will definitely be the name of some new special character as the Target journal description says it includes the birthdays of ‘key character birthdays’.

The only other birthday we can see marked on the Journal calendar preview is Wisp’s birthday on February 26th, which essentially confirms his return in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. That might not seem like a big deal, but I’m pretty excited to see it because he was actually left out of New Leaf until the Welcome Amiibo update!

We also need to talk about how odd it is that no other characters are include in the calendar inside this journal. I don’t want to leap to too many conclusions as there are many possibilities, but we can’t avoid mentioning how there are almost ten special characters from past games missing.

Those special characters include Rover, Blanca, Wendell, Luna, Pave, Pete, Zipper, and Pelly. Most likely, the makers of this calendar simply considered these to not be ‘key characters’ as it would be extremely odd for them all to be left out.

Either way, it won’t be long until we start seeing more special character revealed in Animal Crossing: New Horizons… hopefully! Our next batch of information has got to almost be here, right?
