The new special edition Animal Crossing: New Horizons Nintendo Switch announced this week is an amazing sight, but what if you don’t want to purchase an entire new console for $300?
Well, there’s a consolation prize for you! As part of the never-ending swarm of new officially licensed accessories for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, we have two interesting skin decal bundles today for the Nintendo Switch themed to New Horizons characters.
These skin bundles include a full wrap for the Joy-Cons, the Joy-Con Grip, the back of the Nintendo Switch body, and the front and sides of the TV Dock! They’ve really covered the entire works without skipping any possible component you’d want themed.
Two different sets of Animal Crossing: New Horizons designs are available, and both feature a variety of official character renders and other official artwork from Nintendo.
The first, and the best design in my opinion, is the green Tom Nook, Timmy, and Tommy version. This one has a consistent green leaf pattern in the background with full color renders of Tom Nook and the Nooklings featured. Finally, there’s a nice Leaf icon in the middle of the Joy-Con Grip.
Secondly, there’s another design with a mix of a white and light green color scheme. Unlike the full color renders of the other version, this one features brown stencil-like renders of the characters, including K.K. Slider who is missing from the first version.
However, it does uniquely have a bunch of cute Animal Crossing icons like buildings and trees in a row on the Joy-Con Grip, the back of the Switch body, and the TV Dock.
Both versions of these Animal Crossing: New Horizons Skin Bundles are scratch resistant and claim to be easy to pull off with no residue left behind. Based on the excellent 4.9-star reviews of one of the company’s other skin bundles for Switch, we’re inclined to say this is likely true and the skins are of a good quality.
You can pre-order either design of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Skin Bundles from Controller Gear at Amazon here for $20! A free screen protector is also included with the skin bundle if that sort of thing interests you.
There’s no doubt that the special edition Animal Crossing: New Horizons Nintendo Switch system is the top prize and offers a unique experience you can’t get elsewhere, but these third-party skins seem like a pretty decent alternative to save come cash and still get hyped for the game.
So what do you think of these? Could you see yourself picking one up and trying it out, or will you be sticking with the special edition system? Let me know in the comments below what your thoughts are!
