Jolly Redd, Leif, Bushes, And Four New Events Coming In Huge Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update

A massive new update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons has just been announced by Nintendo set for release later this week bringing an incredible amount of significant new additions to the game!
These additions include returning characters from past games, new shops and merchants to enjoy, and a selection of four brand new events to experience in the months ahead. We’ve got everything covered, so keep on reading!
Nature Day Event: April 23rd to May 4th
As previously announced, the update will include a brand new Nature Day event beginning on April 23rd and running through until May 4th. During the Nature Day event period, a series of special limited-time Nook Miles+ challenges will be available to complete!
These fun new Nature Day goals will focus on landscaping activities like planting new bushes introduced by Leif, watering your flowers, and much more.
Leif’s Flower Shop: Visiting Merchant
Speaking of Leif and new bushes, the beloved sloth special character will be returning to Animal Crossing: New Horizons in this huge update introducing his very own traveling Garden Shop!
Similarly to Kicks, Leif will show up in random visits to your island at Resident Services offering an assortment of nature items for sale perfect to upgrading the landscaping around the island. These items will include a variety of new bushes and shrubs, and he’ll also sell flower seeds.
Jolly Redd’s Treasure Trawler: Visiting Merchant
Another important returning character from past Animal Crossing games is Crazy Redd, or Jolly Redd as he appears to now be known as! Just like Leif, he’ll appear on your island periodically as a traveling merchant in his very own ship.
From what we can tell, Jolly Redd’s Treasure Trawler ship will show up on the ‘secret beach’ area found at the very north end of your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This is quite the covert operation for Redd to sell his shady wares without getting in trouble with Tom Nook or Isabelle!
Just like previous games in the Animal Crossing series, Jolly Redd will sell a selection of art like paintings and statues. Unfortunately, he’s not the most upstanding salesman and you could find yourself ending up with a forgery piece of art, so you’ll need to carefully inspect his wares before purchasing!
And on top of art, Jolly Redd will also be selling some unique furniture with different color variations! We’re not entirely sure yet whether this will be a new way to obtain different existing furniture variations, or a brand new set of Redd exclusive furniture.
Art Paintings & Statues Coming To The Museum
Of course, those newly added paintings and statues from Jolly Redd wouldn’t serve much purpose in the game without somewhere to display them! As expected, the Museum will be getting an expansion in the new update adding a brand new art gallery.
Donations of all types of art pieces including paintings and statues will be accepted into the Museum’s new Art Gallery — assuming they’re of genuine quality and not a Jolly Redd forgery!
Three More New Upcoming Events
All of the exciting new content including Leif’s Garden Shop, Jolly Redd’s Treasure Trawler, the Art Gallery expansion to the Museum, and Nature Day are expected to be available immediately when the update releases on April 23rd.
However, the fun doesn’t end there as three more upcoming in-game events for Animal Crossing: New Horizons are included in the update and will be playable at a later date. The May Day Tour Event takes places starting on May 1st running through until May 7th and will introduce new May Day Tickets for use with Dodo Airlines!
The International Museum Day Event is happening May 18th until May 31st allowing Animal Crossing: New Horizons players to collect stamps from Museum exhibits for fun rewards!
The Wedding Season Event begins on June 1st and lasts until the end of the month introducing Reese and Cyrus as a returning set of special characters! We’ll be helping them out with arranging their anniversary photos in Harvey’s studio for new wedding themed items.
Release Date for Animal Crossing: New Horizons April Update
This massive game-changing April Update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be available for download beginning on April 23rd, 2020!
Your copy of the game should update automatically for you, but if for some reason it doesn’t, you’ll be able to manually trigger the update by pressing the + button on the Animal Crossing: New Horizons home screen icon, selecting Software Update, and hitting Via the Internet.
Please note that while all of the non-event related content we’ve covered should be available immediately after the update is released, the event content will be locked from access until the event dates occur in the real world, despite any time traveling attempts.
