Get Your Bamboo Grass For The Japanese Tanabata Holiday In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

5 years ago 4 Comments

A fresh new seasonal holiday item is now available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons to celebrate the Japanese holiday of Tanabata, otherwise known as the Star Festival!

You can join the Tanabata celebrations on July 7th by picking up the Bamboo Grass item beginning today inside Nook Shopping’s Special Goods section for 3,080 Bells until July 31st. It’s in a unique category at the very end of the tabs called Seasonal.

If you’ve unlocked the Nook Shopping app on your NookPhone, you can use that app to access the items. Otherwise, just head to the Nook Stop terminal at Resident Services to get your hands on this gorgeous new item.

For more information on exactly what the Japanese Tanabata holiday consists of, check out the Bamboo Grass’s official item description below from Nintendo:

Celebrated on July 7th, this is the one day that the deities Orihime and Hikoboshi–represented by the stars Vega and Altair– can meet. Write a wish on tanzaku paper, hang it from the bamboo, and wish on the stars!

What’s notable about this seasonal item for Tanabata though is that it’s marked by a Japanese flag, while still being available worldwide for everyone to purchase.

This would seem to confirm that regional exclusive items are gone in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, compared to past Animal Crossing games, which is sure to come as welcome news to many that we don’t need to deal with that trouble again to experience every item.

Don’t forget to pick up the other two current seasonal items Summer-Solstice Crown and Winter-Solstice Sweater introduced last month before they leave after July 6th — that’s not much time! No matter your island’s hemisphere, you can get both items.
