Pascal’s Mermaid Set: Furniture DIY Crafting Recipes & Clothing Items

Pascal is a special character that gives the beautiful Mermaid Set of both furniture DIY Crafting Recipes and clothing items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons! Learn how to find Pascal and see all of the Mermaid Set recipes and items in this guide.

New Mermaid Fence In January Update

A surprising new Mermaid Set DIY crafting recipe has been added in the January Update released on January 28th, 2021 introducing the Mermaid Fence! According to Nintendo, a bug previously prevented the recipe from being accessible, but this has been fixed in the update.

You can unlock the Mermaid Fence DIY recipe by finding a Scallop in the ocean and giving it to Pascal, just like any other Mermaid Set recipe.

How To Find Pascal, Scallops, and Pearls

Pascal can sometimes be found in Animal Crossing: New Horizons when swimming and diving in your island’s surrounding waters.

Specifically, Pascal will appear out of the ocean when you dive into the water and catch a Scallop item while diving! You can only encounter Pascal once per day though, even if you find more than one Scallop in a day. There cannot be any player visitors on your island.

Scallops can be found randomly as a Sea Creature available in the ocean when diving — there doesn’t seem to be any way to specifically hunt them down. They’re also available all day long and during any month of the year, even if it’s not summer.

How To Get Mermaid Set DIY Crafting Recipes & Items

When you find Pascal and give up your precious Scallop to him, he’ll typically trade you back either one random Mermaid Set Furniture DIY Crafting Recipe or one random Mermaid Set clothing item in exchange, however Pearls are possible too. You can learn the DIY Recipes to begin crafting Mermaid items — scroll down in this guide for a complete list of them.

Each of these Mermaid Furniture Set recipes requires at least one Pearl and a mix of various shells found on your island’s beaches. Some require Iron Nuggets or Stone as well.

How To Find & Get Pearls

Every single item in the Mermaid Furniture Set requires at least 1-3 Pearls to craft at a DIY Workbench. You can find these rare Pearls in the ocean when swimming and diving, just like Sea Creatures. Sometimes Pascal will trade you a Pearl for a Scallop as well. Check out our full guide to getting Pearls here!

However, Pearls aren’t technically classed as a Sea Creature and cannot be donated to the Museum or found in the Critterpedia.

Pearls can be sold to Timmy & Tommy at Nook’s Cranny for 10,000 Bells each, but we highly suggest you save at least 20 Pearls as that’s how many are required to craft the entire set of Mermaid items.
