Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Demo Available Now with Hamster Costume & Save Transfer
A free demo for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream on Nintendo Switch is now available to download, offering a sneak preview at the game ahead of its release next month!
Even better, the demo’s save data can be transferred over to the full version of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream when it launches, including the Miis you create. So if you’re interested in the game, there’s little reason not to give this demo a try — you’ve got nothing to lose.
You can create up to 3 different Miis in this special Welcome Version demo and name your Tomodachi Life island. A new Mii can be created by either answering a questionnaire, building one from scratch in the standard Mii creator, or importing a Mii already on your Nintendo Switch.
In terms of buildings, your island starts off with the Fresh Kingdom food mart to pick up food for your Miis. When you create all 3 Miis available in the demo, the Where & Wear clothing shop will open up too. A wishing fountain can also be built once your first Mii levels up.
Plus, if you complete the demo, you’ll receive the in-game Hamster costume for your Miis in a random color!
Note that Nintendo confirms this costume will be available in the full version too, so presumably this bonus is just about having immediate access on release, rather than having to wait to unlock it through a random shop appearance or a similar feature. There’s no need to worry about this item being limited time or exclusive to the demo.
This demo’s release comes as quite a surprise, as Nintendo tends not to be fond of the concept, with most games holding back from the practice. But Tomodachi Life is certainly a unique game without a new release in over a decade, so it’s a great idea!
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Welcome Version is available for download on the Nintendo eShop for both the original Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, just as the full game will be when it releases on April 16th.
Note that as of publishing time, we’re only seeing the demo available for download in Europe and Asia Pacific regions, but it should be live in North America too within a few hours when the morning comes in Pacific Time.
