As you may have already heard, the new level-building platformer Super Mario Maker launched on the Wii U yesterday. What you might not know is the game happens to contain a massive amount of Animal Crossing costumes!
Super Mario Maker has a grand total of seventeen different Animal Crossing costumes in-game. Using these costumes change your Mario sprite into an Animal Crossing character equipped with special themed sound effects and animations.
Here’s the complete list of Animal Crossing costumes, with credit to IGN:
- Tom Nook
- K. K. Slider
- Timmy & Tommy
- Isabelle (Summer Outfitt)
- Isabelle (Fall Outfit)
While these costumes can be unlocked through regular gameplay of the 100 Mario Challenge mode, they can also be unlocked through the scanning of compatible amiibo if there is a matching figure…. or card!
We went ahead and tested this out on our copy by using two of the Japanese Animal Crossing amiibo Cards (see our unboxing here) imported last month. Check out the results in the quick video below:
It’s worth noting that this generally confirms that the Animal Crossing amiibo Cards are NOT region locked as this was on a Canadian copy of the game. This was to be expected from amiibo figures, but the confirmation is always nice to hear.
