Animal Crossing for mobile devices delayed again; now arriving in April or later

Nintendo has announced at their latest earnings release for investors that the upcoming Animal Crossing game for mobile devices is facing another delay in release.

Animal Crossing for mobile devices was originally scheduled for release in the fall of 2016, before an updated release timing of before the end of March 2017 was announced in September 2016 alongside Super Mario Run’s reveal. The game has now been rescheduled for sometime in the 2018 fiscal year, which begins in April 2017.

The official statement from Nintendo below cites the need to accommodate their other upcoming mobile games; Fire Emblem Heroes launching on February 3rd, and the Android release of Super Mario Run in March. With the Nintendo Switch system also releasing in March, it’s likely Nintendo is trying to avoid taking too much attention away from an Animal Crossing release in this busy period for them.

For smart devices, we plan to release the game application Fire Emblem Heroes on February 2. We will also follow last December’s release of Super Mario Run for iOS with an Android version in March. To accommodate the releases and operation of these applications, we have revised the release schedule for Animal Crossing, which we had originally planned to release during this period. This title will be released during the next fiscal year.

However it’s unclear at this time whether this announcement means a very small push from March to April, or a more significant delay into later in the year like the summer or fall period. Releasing sometime during the next fiscal year can be either as it runs all the way from April 2017 to March 2018.

As always, we’ll keep you updated here at Animal Crossing World with the latest on Animal Crossing Mobile.
