Nintendo’s official website for Animal Crossing reportedly went offline earlier this morning for about 20 minutes, sparking speculation of an imminent announcement.
The downtime was spotted by Pixelpar on Twitter, who logged the downtime through the website tracking tool IsItDownRightNow to confirm its legitimacy and remove any doubt. You can check out the entry on IsItDownRightNow here.
Of course, this is by no means a guarantee of any announcement in this afternoon’s Nintendo Direct but that won’t stop us from speculating! It certainly would be quite the coincidence for this to occur on the morning before today’s Nintendo Direct given that downtime for official Nintendo websites is very rare.
The Animal Crossing website went down for ~20 mins this morning from around 7:18am GMT.

If a significant Animal Crossing announcement is going to be made today, it would make sense for the website to see an update acknowledging the new game’s official title and other information. The website doesn’t necessarily need to go offline to do this but it does raise some eyebrows that someone may be working on it today. Either that or pure coincidence!
This might be the kind of grasping at straws that we normally refrain from posting about, but we know everyone is super excited for today’s Nintendo Direct so we thought it would be worth sharing anyway!
You can catch the Nintendo Direct presentation beginning on Wednesday, February 13th at 2PM Pacific Time / 5PM Eastern Time over at Nintendo.com or the company’s YouTube and Twitch channels.
