Don’t forget to check on your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island as the second Fishing Tourney since launch day is taking place today!
You can find the friendly beaver C.J. outside of Resident Services from 9AM to 6PM on Saturday, July 11th offering up fun fishing challenges and appropriately themed furniture or clothing prizes. Check out our complete Fishing Tourney guide here.
Before you ask, because we know it’s what you’re thinking, the prizes for today’s Fishing Tourney event are exactly the same as previously. That said, it’s still a great opportunity to get some more duplicates for customizing into different variations as five of the Fishing Tourney items are customizable.
Plus, if you weren’t quite able to make it to 300 Points in total last time for the Gold Fish Trophy prize, you’ve got another shot at winning today! Every professional Animal Crossing fisher needs one in their collection.
But even though the item prizes are the same, there is one small reason that you should still make sure to participate at least once today — Nook Miles! That’s right, you can actually fill out another stamp on your Fishing Tourney Nook Miles today since one is awarded for each season’s event.
Doing so will grant you 500 Nook Miles and a set of two titles, depending on your island’s hemisphere. In the Nothern Hemisphere’s Summer event, we received both the Summer-Born and Chiller titles.
We certainly do wish that each season of the Fishing Tourney at least had a couple unique items for prizes though to keep things more interesting. In the previous game Animal Crossing: New Leaf, there were actually two separate halfs to the Fish item set with different items being awarded depending on the month.
While the total amount of items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons still slightly exceeds the amount in New Lead when combining both sets of prizes, we definitely feel like splitting the prizes was a wise move to minimize fatigue when repeating the event.
With the exact same items being offered every single event, up to 4 times per year for both the Fishing Tourney and Bug-Off, it’s hard to see many fans keeping interested after they’ve already experienced it once or twice besides getting the Nook Miles.
