Nintendo Announces Bizarre Animal Crossing: Happy Zipper Paradise Spin-Off Game [April Fools]

In a shocking announcement today, Nintendo has revealed that the next Animal Crossing game is now in development under the working title Animal Crossing: Happy Zipper Paradise for release on Nintendo Switch.

While details are light so far, the brand new spin-off game is expected to bring the fan favorite Bunny Day event experience with Zipper T. Bunny from Animal Crossing: New Horizons to a broader audience, while giving veteran players a newly expanded experience.

This follows on the Animal Crossing developers’ efforts last year to extend the Bunny Day event duration by four extra weeks in response to fan demand. Now they will take their vision to the next level by creating a way for Animal Crossing fans to enjoy Bunny Day throughout the entire year without time traveling!

In the new Happy Zipper Paradise game starring Zipper T. Bunny, players will find themselves arriving on a special Zipper-themed island taken over by an overabundance of Easter Eggs. In addition to past features like fishing Water Eggs or shooting down Sky Eggs, the following new egg types can be found across the island to improve your experience:

  • Bug Egg; flying bug-like egg with wings flying around the island that can be caught with your Net.
  • Morning Egg; found in your inventory each day when starting Animal Crossing: Happy Zipper Paradise to brighten your morning.
  • Ocean Egg Fragment; washes up on the island’s shores 4-7 times per day and can be planted to grow a full Ocean Egg.
  • Villager Egg; given by villagers in place of their photo portrait item, which has been removed from the series.
  • Good Night Egg; found in your inventory each time you lie down in a bed furniture item, great for egg farming!
  • Deep-Sea Egg; caught by deep sea diving in the ocean, returning from Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

After collecting enough eggs, players can begin crafting various different Egg Shrines to prove their loyalty and dedication to Zipper T. Bunny by placing them around the island! A perfect island rating can be achieved from Zipper after building enough loyalty through shrines.

And as part of the game’s introduction sequence, fans will be introduced to Zipper T. Bunny’s handy two helpers Hippity & Hoppity in an homage to Timmy & Tommy, who are planned to be retired from the Animal Crossing series going forward in favour of Hippity & Hoppity.

Expanding on Bunny Day’s award-winning soundtrack from Animal Crossing: New Horizons, two new rain and snow variations of the Bunny Day event theme have created to suit the winter period. During this time, players will be able to roll two Easter Eggs in the snow pushing them together to create an Eggboy, similarly to building a Snowboy.

On initial release, Animal Crossing: Happy Zipper Paradise is expected to come with approximately 60% of Bunny Day furniture and clothing from New Horizons, with the remaining 40% of items to be released in future free updates over the next two years. This will ensure that the game remains fresh with exciting new content introduced every month.

That’s about all of the information we have on Animal Crossing: Happy Zipper Paradise right now, but a new trailer is expected to be released on April 31st, 2022 — stay tuned and have a great April Fool’s Day everyone!
