The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Version 3.0 Update launches on January 16th, bringing new Splatoon and The Legend of Zelda content, but which amiibo unlocks what? We’ve got the scoop!

The official Japanese website for amiibo from Nintendo has been updated as of today with specific details on amiibo compatibility in the new update, so let’s break down all the new information below.

The Legend of Zelda Amiibo Compatibility List

The entire set of themed collaboration items (furniture and clothing) for The Legend of Zelda unlocks with the scanning of any amiibo figure from the dedicated The Legend of Zelda series, or any Zelda themed amiibo figures from the Super Smash Bros line.

Additionally, there are two Zelda-inspired villagers introduced in Version 3.0 called Tulin and Mineru. For villagers, the available The Legend of Zelda amiibo figures have been roughly split in half — one half will help you invite Tulin to your island, while the other half can invite Mineru.

And again, when ANY of the above amiibo are scanned into Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the entire set of Zelda themed items will become available in the Nook Shopping catalog! You only need one for this.

Splatoon Amiibo Compatibility List

The entire set of themed collaboration items (furniture and clothing) for Splatoon unlock with the scanning of any amiibo figure from the dedicated Splatoon series, or Inkling from the Super Smash Bros line.

Additionally, there are two Splatoon-inspired villagers returning in Version 3.0 named Cece and Viché. For villagers, the Splatoon amiibo figure collection has been split in about half — one half will help you invite Cece to your island, while the other half can invite Viché.

And as a special bonus, if you own the special Big Man amiibo figure, he can actually invite both villagers choosing between them each time! Specifically, the Japanese explanation machine translates to You can choose whichever you prefer and call it up each time you load it.”

And just as with the Zelda items, when ANY of the above amiibo are scanned into Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the entire set of Splatoon themed items will become available in the Nook Shopping catalog! Just one will do for this.

That covers exactly which amiibo figures you’ll need to unlock all of the Splatoon and The Legend of Zelda content coming in Version 3.0 of Animal Crossing: New Horizons on January 16th, 2026!

If you need to pick up any new Splatoon or The Legend of Zelda amiibo for use in this update, you can support Animal Crossing World by ordering them on Amazon here.

One unfortunate side effect of this reveal though is it essentially rules out any possibility of extra unannounced Splatoon and Zelda villagers that some fans were hoping for. Ah well…
