Isabelle Ramps Up Animal Crossing: New Horizons Version 3.0 Promotion On Social Media

3 weeks ago 3 Comments

The official Animal Crossing social media accounts hosted by Isabelle are finally making some moves in anticipation of next week’s Version 3.0 Update releasing on January 15th!

Historically, we’ve always seen the posts from Isabelle ramp up commentary and highlights in the weeks ahead of a major new release or update for Animal Crossing, but it’s been pretty quiet so far.

When we’re in between notable news and happenings for Animal Crossing, the accounts tend to fall back into a state of simply repeating announcements of the standard recurring in-game events on a loop, until there’s something new coming.

We’ve always found it rather cute that Nintendo keeps up with these in-universe Animal Crossing social media posts for years, even when the series is otherwise incredibly quiet — that’s something we don’t see with most other Nintendo franchises.

So when the Isabelle account decides to make a move out of that ‘loop’ so to speak and begins sharing new originally written content, it always catches our eye. It was a big deal back in 2019 when the account ceased posting Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp content in favor of Animal Crossing: New Horizons!

Isabelle’s First Version 3.0 Post!

Well, that moment has finally arrived for the Version 3.0 Update of Animal Crossing: New Horizons! Today, the Japanese Animal Crossing account on X shared a related post from Isabelle for the first time:

Then several hours later, the account for the United Kingdom followed up with an official English translation shown below:

But unfortunately, if this screenshot from Isabelle looks awfully familiar to you — you’d be right as it’s simply taken from the original press kit released back in late October as seen below and thus is sadly technically not new content. Here’s hoping for a more original peek at something new we haven’t seen yet tomorrow!

By the way, this is actually the first post from Isabelle regarding new content in years, not just since the update announcement. Even the Version 3.0 Update and Nintendo Switch 2 Edition announcements in October were just simple retweets of the standard Nintendo accounts without any added commentary from Isabelle:

Why Is Isabelle Still Writing On X?

Finally, you might understandably be wondering why Nintendo is still using X as such a primary platform for announcing and promoting new Animal Crossing information, given X can be a fairly controversial platform these days in the western world.

It’s worth briefly touching on how critically important X remains as a form of communication particularly in Nintendo’s home country of Japan. In terms of active users relative to a nation’s overall population, Japan is easily the most attached country around the world to using X.

A great example is the introduction of a brand new account for Kirby Air Riders on Nintendo Switch 2 last year that shares information in a similar manner to the Isabelle account for Animal Crossing. It speaks volumes that Nintendo chose to start up a new account in this manner even in 2025 and goes beyond simply continuing old legacy accounts.

Even as a brand new account for a sequel to a game released over 20 years ago, we saw the Kirby Air Riders account rack up over 300,000 followers in just a few months and attract over 15 million views on its opening post — and again, this is an account primarily targeted at just a single country too. So it’s easy to see why Nintendo considers it worth the trouble, despite controversies.

All that is to say, even if you personally might not find yourself using X anymore for your own reasons, it’s clear that Nintendo feels differently and plans to continue using it as an important platform for their Animal Crossing communications. As a result, we’ll continue to report on anything notable!
