Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0.3 Update Expands 25th Anniversary Item Availability
Earlier this month, Nintendo released a surprise update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons introducing new content for the 25th anniversary of Animal Crossing, including a new Leaf Statue item!
However, there was a big issue that we saw some players point out shortly after — it was rather difficult to get your hands on another copy of the Leaf Statue if you accidentally sold yours or simply wanted extras to decorate your island with.
That’s because it wasn’t available to buy in the Nook Shopping catalog, or really available in any other way outside of receiving one in your mailbox for the 25th anniversary. The only known workaround available was using a secondary character’s mailbox.
So while it may have taken a couple weeks, Nintendo clearly heard the issue loud and clear as a new minor Version 3.0.3 update was released today addressing the issue with two main changes as detailed in the official patch notes below:
Animal Crossing: New Horizons Version 3.0.3 Patch Notes
The following updates have been made when playing the game on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch:
General updates
- The 25th Anniversary item leaf statue is now available for purchase from the Nook Shopping furniture catalog.
- Even players who have not previously obtained the leaf statue will now see it in their catalog.
- The price of the leaf statue has also been adjusted with this update.
- Fixed an issue where images for some items would not display when opening your home storage or the hotel room decoration catalog.
For clarity on the price adjustment, the original Leaf Statue release in Version 3.0.2 featured a fun easter egg with the sell price set to 25,414 Bells referencing the 25th anniversary of Animal Crossing on April 14th or 4/14.
This notably valuable sell price was possible since the item was so rare and not easily obtainable, but doesn’t work anymore if it’s sold in the Catalog! Accordingly, Version 3.0.3 has now adjusted the buy price in the Catalog to 25,414 Bells with the sell price changed the standard 25% value of 6,353 Bells. We’re glad this fun little easter egg has survived, even if in a slightly different form!
Other than this, and the bug fix for an issue where item images were sometimes not loading, there are no other known changes or new content to be found in Version 3.0.3 of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Be sure to check out this week’s May Day Tour Maze event if you haven’t yet!
