It’s Winter now and today we’ve got detailed information on a brand new feature in Animal Crossing: New Leaf! What’s that feature? The picture above should give a hint! =O If you consider details to be spoilers, do not read or click below here!
Animal Crossing: New Leaf has been announced for release during the second quarter of 2013 in Europe. This information comes from the latest European Nintendo Direct on December 5th. Check out the video below:
Unfortunately, there was zero mention of Animal Crossing: New Leaf on the North American Nintendo Direct. We’ll keep you updated on anything new that comes.
UPDATE: Nintendo of America has announced a Nintendo Direct for December 5th at 9AM PST which is at exactly the same time as the European one. The post below has been updated accordingly!
Look out folks, Nintendo of Europe and Nintendo of America have announced simultaneous Nintendo Directs for December 5th at 9AM PST/6PM CET! The presentations will be focused on both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS content. Most likely we’ll see information for Wii U and 3DS titles coming early next year.
Nintendo of America has even gone as far to say “We’ll be taking a fresh look at several announced Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games coming in 2013.”, basically confirming the presence of Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
Some Japanese players have some found some interesting glitches in Animal Crossing: New Leaf that allow you to glitch yourself into areas you’re usually unable to walk around in. Some examples include parts of the train track, red bridge, and the river. Check them out in the video below!
The 38 minute long video shows a variety of glitches but if you don’t have the patience to watch the entire video, here’s a few times you might want to take a look at:
0:50 – Glitching on top of a house
3:51 – Glitching on top of the message board to roam the train tracks and bridge
9:41 – Glitching down to the waterfall and roaming the surrounding area
11:50 – Glitching into the river and roaming the river to the edge of the map’s waterfall to then walk the edge of the map
29:40 – Using the fishing rod to move off the visible map
34:31 – Glitching inside of a house
What do you guys think of these glitches? Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below. Personally, I hope these glitches remain and aren’t patched out. They’re fun and cause no harm. It’s not like they give you Bells or duplicate items!

Nintendo has released a short video with Iwata apologizing for the out-of-stock situation in Japan currently for Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Some have been wondering why this is even a problem since it shouldn’t be difficult to produce more standard game carts.
According to Iwata, Animal Crossing: New Leaf uses a modified 3DS game cart which offers additional save data storage compared to the traditional 3DS game cart. The reason for this is due to the nature of the game saving more items, houses and such data.
Unfortunately, the supplies for this special type of game cart are limited therefore causing the supply issues for Animal Crossing: New Leaf. In fact, replenishing supplies will apparently take several months so it’s unlikely the stock situation will be going away any time soon.
This may also have an effect on the timing of the western release of the game… If Nintendo can’t even supply enough copies for Japan, how are they going to supply North America and Europe any time soon? Feel free to speculate in the comments below!
Animal Crossing: New Leaf is continuing to print money as it sold yet another 237,823 retail copies last week (November 19th to 25th) in Japan according to Famitsu’s numbers. This marks the third week in a row where the game has topped the sales charts at #1.
Adding to our total from the last sales post, we can assume the game has sold at least1,474,926 copies plus the unaccounted for digital download purchases since November 12th. Nintendo may release more sales information for that in the future but for now we’re clueless besides the 200,000 number released on November 12th.
Finally, some may find it interesting to know that Animal Crossing: New Leaf actually outsold Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (it only launched on the 22nd in Japan) last week.
