Animal Crossing: New Horizons Fall Update Brings Jack’s Halloween Event, Pumpkins To Grow & Craft, And More
The highly anticipated Fall Update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons has finally been announced by Nintendo! This exciting free new update will bring Jack’s Halloween event into the game, among other fun additions like pumpkin growing.
Luckily, we won’t have to wait much longer to experience all of the new features as the Fall Update is set to arrive on September 30th next week!
New Halloween Event With Jack & Candy
Perhaps the most prominent addition in the Fall Update will be the Halloween event occurring on Saturday, October 31st at 5PM as you’d expect. Returning from past Animal Crossing games, this event will involve giving candy to both your villagers and Jack throughout the evening.
And speaking of candy, you’ll be able to purchase Candy from Timmy & Tommy at Nook’s Cranny beginning in early October continuing throughout the month! One piece of candy can be purchased per day inside the store’s cabinets, and it’ll be important to collect it daily in the lead-up to Halloween.
The Halloween fun doesn’t just stop at candy either as brand new costumes will be available to purchase from the Able Sisters shop throughout October too. Those costumes will even extend to new body paint and eye contacts with Nook Miles!
And while we don’t know all the details yet, there will be brand new Halloween themed DIY Recipes to unlock as well from speaking to villagers throughout October. New reactions can be learned as well to help express your spooky fear!
Growing & Harvesting Pumpkins (New DIYs!)
Fully embracing the Autumn season, the long rumored growable vegetables feature found in datamining will be introduced to Animal Crossing: New Horizons with the ability to purchase Pumpkin seeds! These brand new seeds will be found at both Nook’s Cranny and from Leif when he visits your island.
Once planted in the ground on your island, pumpkins will need to be watered frequently to produce the best results! And once fully grown, you can harvest your pumpkins for use in a brand new collection of Pumpkin DIY Recipes.
Growing pumpkins won’t exclusive to the Halloween or Fall season though — you can grow them all year round! This new feature definitely seems to be paving the path for more vegetable seeds to be introduced in future updates.
New Dream Suite Features
While it’s small potatoes compared to other major Halloween additions, the Fall Update will introduce a few new features for the Dream Suite.
If you’d like to revisit a past Dream Island you’ve already been to, it’ll now be as easy as accessing a new in-game list of past dreams you’ve had, rather than keeping track of Dream Addresses on your own.
And going even further, you can now mark the dream islands you’ve most enjoyed as favorites in-game for easy revisiting in the future.
NookLink Smartphone App Update
A small update to the NookLink app for iOS and Android will be launching in early October shortly after the Fall Update!
One of the most popular uses for the app since release has been using your smartphone as a keyboard for in-game chat, and this new NookLink update will enhance that with the new ability to trigger in-game Reactions easily from the app.
Ring Con Furniture Gift
As with every other major new update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, a special new gift will be distributed to all players after installing the Fall Update.
This time around, Nintendo will be sending a fun new Ring Con furniture item resembling the special controller packaged with Ring Fit Adventure for Nintendo Switch.
It’s certainly not as exciting as some of the past update items we’ve received like the Fireworks Wallpaper or Snorkel, but new items are always welcome!
Next Update In Late November
As always, Nintendo has given us a small sneak peek at the next update ahead as well. Much like we expected, the next update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons will arrive in Late November!
We don’t know exactly what will be contained in the next update, but Nintendo has provided a few hints as usual by sharing images of past special characters Franklin and Jingle on the screen.
As long-time players of the Animal Crossing series will know, that’s a clear signal for both the Harvest Festival Event for Thanksgiving and the Toy Day Event for Christmas!
So there we have it, the long anticipated Fall Update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is finally here! Are you happy with the new features revealed, or were you hoping for something different? Let us know all your thoughts in the comments below!
