Celebrate Day Of The Dead With New Item This Week In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is celebrating the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead this week with a special new seasonal item available for order in-game!

Traditionally celebrated in Mexico at the beginning of November, the Day of the Dead holiday is a time when family and friends gather together to remember loved ones who have passed away. This mourning often takes place in a rather light-hearted manner.

To commemorate the holiday in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, a brand new seasonal item called the Marigold Decoration is now available to collect! That’s fitting as marigold flowers are often used as part of shrines to honor the deceased during Day of the Dead.

Players can pick up the Marigold Decoration item in Animal Crossing: New Horizons from the Special Goods section of Nook Shopping for 1,600 Bells each from October 25th to November 3rd, 2021.

Here’s the official description from Nintendo for the Day Of The Dead shopping event:

Celebrated mainly in Mexico, this festive event honors the deceased with parades, decorated graves, and skeleton costumes. Marigolds are thought to help the deceased find their way back from the afterlife.

Following this new item, there are still two more upcoming seasonal items planned on the release schedule during the next few weeks, including the Handheld Lanternfind our complete Upcoming Seasonal Items guide here! And of course, the massive new Version 2.0 Update is launching on November 5th too!
