Harvestella Is An Intriguing New Life Simulator RPG Coming To Switch You Should Check Out

We’re always looking out for brand new life simulator games on the horizon, and a fresh one has just been revealed this week for release on Nintendo Switch very soon!

It’s called Harvestella, a new life simulator farming RPG developed by Square-Enix, featuring farm crops to grow, townsfolk to speak with, dungeons to explore, and monsters to defeat. In other words, this is a Rune Factory-Harvest Moon-Stardew sort of game!

Harvestella was announced in the recent Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase this week, but you might have missed it given that the presentation focused solely on third-party games making for quite the reduced audience compared to a classic Nintendo Direct.

Like other farming games of a similar nature, Harvestella features an in-game calendar that passes with each day as your experience advances through the four seasons of Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Each season will run for 30 in-game days at a time before moving on to the next.

In terms of farming options, you’ll be able to grow fruits, vegetables, and grains on the fields of your farm, with the exact choices varying by season of course. After harvesting crops, they can be either sent off for funds in the shipping box or kept around for cooking at your leisure later.

And in regard to cooking, you’ll be able to put together some pretty impressive looking dishes that can increase your health, or give yourself a special status boost to help with adventuring. Proper items to assist you can be crafted as well, such as a Return Bell to get you back home quickly.

On the RPG side of matters, Harvestella doesn’t look like it’ll disappoint either with an engaging overworld to adventure within, including other towns and even dungeons with monsters to beat up. And the ocean can be explored with a submarine too!

Combat looks to be rather extensive as well with different Job classes to choose from for unique combat abilities and powers including the physical Fighter with swift swords, the Shadow Walker with twin blades, and the long-ranged Mage with magical elements. Given Square-Enix’s experience, this side of Harvestella may prove to be particularly impressive for the life simulator RPG genre!

Finally, Harvestella has its fair share of social questing features too with personal character stories to progress through, including money and item rewards, plus a friendship meter of some kind to advance. There’s no word yet of whether dating or marriage elements are at play, but it certainly appears possible.

Some of the main characters you’ll meet include the time traveling scientist Aria, the combat ready defender Asyl, and the missionary fast traveller Shrika. Check out a few screenshots of them below!

Even though RPG-leaning life simulator games like this one aren’t quite in the same vein as Animal Crossing, we’ve found there’s quite the notable crossover in fans between the Animal Crossing series and franchises such as Rune Factory, Harvest Moon, and Stardew Valley. If you’re a fan of any of those titles, Harvestella could be up your alley.

Harvestella is planned for release on both Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam) later this fall on November 4th, 2022. Let us know in the comments below if you’ll be keeping an eye on it at launch in November — we’re pretty excited!
