Bug-Off Event Returns For 2021 Today In Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Northern Hemisphere)

The summertime Bug-Off event begins today in Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the first time during 2021, offering a new experience for real-time Northern Hemisphere players who weren’t playing last summer!

Taking place from 9AM to 6PM this Saturday on June 26th, event host Flick will be waiting outside of Resident Services hosting the Bug-Off with a timed bug hunting challenge to complete.

During the event, try to catch as many bugs throughout your island as you can during the short timer to earn points! You can exchange those points in for special bug themed furniture and clothing prizes from Flick. Check out our complete Bug-Off guide here.

Nook Miles achievements and shiny trophy prizes are up for grab during the Bug-Off as well, with the Gold Bug Trophy going to players who reach 300 Points in total.

For veteran players though, the prizes for this year’s Bug-Off events in 2021 are sadly exactly the same as the previous edition seen throughout 2020 last year.

After over a year of updates to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it’s frankly a shame that Nintendo has never addressed adding a wider range of prizes for both the Bug-Off and Fishing Tourney to encourage repeat play.

Of course we don’t expect endless items, but given that the events are designed to be repeated four times each year, it’d make a lot of sense if there were more variety between each month or year in terms of rewards.
