Rediscover Your 3DS & Wii U Playtime, Including Animal Crossing: New Leaf, With Nintendo’s New Tool
With Nintendo’s recent announcement that the Nintendo eShop on both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U will be coming to a close in about a year from now, the company has released a handy tool helping you look back on your time with these legacy consoles!
Entitled the My Nintendo 3DS & Wii U Memories tool, this new website from Nintendo allows you to easily login with your Nintendo Account that has a linked Nintendo Network ID to retrieve various playtime stats recorded from back in the day.
Notably, the tool has a disclaimer noting that play time is only calculated up until February 2020 for some odd reason — but this should be just enough data to provide a nice Animal Crossing: New Leaf playtime recording for most players given that New Horizons released just a few weeks later.
Of course, most of this data can already be accessed just by loading up your own Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, but given how old these consoles have become now and the fact many players might not even have access to their systems anymore — the My Nintendo 3DS & Wii U Memories website is certainly a fun tool to see Nintendo release.
Best of all, the website generates some great graphics that you can share with your friends on social media highlighting your total console play time, number of different games played, top three genres, and of course the top three games you’ve played the most.
As an example, here’s my own Nintendo 3DS playtime graphic showing about 500 hours of Animal Crossing: New Leaf, with the classic quirky Swapnote application coming in second place somehow, and finally Mario Kart 7 in third place.
Note that some players may have their Animal Crossing: New Leaf playtime hours split into two depending on their personal situation due to the Welcome Amiibo cart version of Animal Crossing: New Leaf counting as a separate entity.
Looking at the actual playtime data on my Nintendo 3DS console, that separate Welcome Amiibo listing comes in with another 115 hours that really should be combined with my primary New Leaf data. You can see the Welcome Amiibo icon under the Genres section of my graphic too.
All technical limitations aside, the My Nintendo 3DS & Wii U Memories website is a great fun little treat to enjoy as we prepare to say goodbye to this era of Nintendo — not to mention the beloved Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
You can check out your own playtime information by visiting the My Nintendo 3DS & Wii U Memories website right here, and logging in with an appropriate Nintendo Account! Feel free to share your data in the comments below.
