Flower Festival Cross-Pollination Complete Event Guide

The Flower Festival gardening event has begun in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp for iOS and Android! It runs from August 17th, 2018 until August 28th, 2018. Learn how to grow event zinnia flowers, cross-pollinate them, and get the full item set in our complete guide!

Plant and Cross-Pollinate Zinnia Flowers

Unlike previous gardening events in Pocket Camp, the Flower Festival has no rare creatures to attract and collect for completing tasks. We’re just planting Zinnia flowers and cross-pollinating them to trade in for event items! Get started with the event by planting Red Zinnia seeds in your garden, which can be purchased from Lloid the Gyroid directly for 80 Bells each. You can get Zinnia seeds sometimes by completing villager requests too.

When your flowers are finished growing and ready to harvest, resist the temptation to harvest the entire garden — you’ll need at least one flower to stick around for cross-pollinating! Once you have harvested some flowers, tap on another flower that is fully grown but unharvested. Then tap on X-Pollinate to pick a harvested Zinnia flower from your inventory to pollinate with. This will ‘use up’ the flower removing it from your inventory.

When you cross-pollinate you’ll receive a flower seed back in return, the color depending on which flowers you used in the pollination and some luck. Your end goal is to use cross-pollination to ‘trade up’ your flowers through the chain of red, yellow, green, and blue colors to earn all of the flowers needed in the event.

Use the handy Flower Festival Cross-Pollination chart below to assist you in your gardening and get all of the seeds you need, these are the recommend combinations:

The above table works best when the flowers involved are completely ‘pure’. Pure flowers means they were only pollinated with others of the same type and not cross-pollinated in a mixed manner with other colors besides the combinations in the table. If you are receiving Red seeds (you should get Yellow) from your Red X Red cross-pollinations, then you probably are using non-pure flowers and should start over with a red seed purchased from Lloid for the best success.

Note that you will only sometimes be ‘successful’ in cross-pollinating to the Green and Blue colors even if you’re doing everything right — you will receive another fallback color when it fails. The higher tier flowers have a greater chance of failing.

Trade Zinnia Flowers for Flower Festival Items

Once you’ve harvested a good batch of Zinnia flowers from your garden, it’s time to trade them up for Flower Festival event prizes! Tap on Lloid the Gyroid on the left side of your garden and select Flower Trade to begin trading.

Note that the table below includes two similar versions of some furniture items. These are exclusive to each smartphone platform — iOS and Android. Click here to jump to the section of this guide explaining these items.

When an item has ‘X Times’ listed in parenthesis, this refers to the number of times a trade can be made at that rate of flowers. Most items can be traded at a cheaper rate the first time with duplicates available for a more expensive price.

Exclusives: Android Items vs iOS Items

The Flower Festival event features a partnership with Google Play resulting in different exclusive rewards depending on your platform of choice.

On Android devices like Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy phones, you will receive the exclusive rainbow variants of the canopy, bicycle, and pinwheel furniture items. They are themed to the rainbow colors of the Google Play Store branding and match previous released Android exclusive clothing.

On iOS devices like iPhone and iPad, you will receive the exclusive red and yellow variants of the canopy, bicycle, and pinwheel furniture items. Unlike the Google Play branded rainbow items, these only feature a dual-color red and yellow theme.

On the bright side, it’s possible to obtain both variants of each item from each platform if you have access to the appropriate devices. There are no restrictions on an account only receiving one of the variants. Click here for our complete guide on logging in to Pocket Camp on another device to get the exclusive items for both platforms!

Exclusive Android / Google Play Clothing Bonus Gifts

In addition to the rainbow variant furniture, Android players will also receive a pack of bonus gifts in their Mailbox containing the following items until September 15th, 2018 courtesy of Google Play:

  • Rainbow Isabelle tee
  • Rainbow K.K. Slider tee
  • Rainbow cap
  • 20 Yellow Zinnia Seeds

Note that the three rainbow clothing items were already released back in December 2017, but you can now obtain either a second duplicate set or a first set if you didn’t play Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp on an Android device last December. The yellow seeds are just a head-start for Android users — you can get them through regular play on iOS too.

Player who typically use Pocket Camp on an iOS device can use a friend’s Android device by logging in with their Nintendo Account to receive the exclusive clothing and then logging back out — the items will remain on your account for iOS play too.
