Snow Finally Leaves This Week — Get Winter Items Before Spring In Animal Crossing: New Horizons!
In just a few short days, the Winter season in Animal Crossing: New Horizons will come to an end as snow disappears from your island’s ground later this week for Northern Hemisphere players.
For most players, we suspect this will be quite an exciting moment as we begin to experience the beautiful and lush Spring season in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and for the first time ever for some players!
Whether it be in real life or on your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island, it’s amazing how quickly snow can go from edge of your seat excitement to dreadful boredom. Just a few months ago, everyone in the Animal Crossing was eagerly awaiting the winter season, and now it couldn’t end sooner.
So when exactly does Spring begin? Starting on February 25th, the snow on the ground and trees of your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons will melt away to be replaced by a beautiful green atmosphere that becomes greener as Spring progresses!
Until then though, it’s worth taking these last few days to make sure you’ve unlocked and crafted all of the special seasonal Winter items you want as there have been plenty.
When the snow disappears from your island’s ground, it will no longer be possible to do the following in Animal Crossing: New Horizons…
- Build Perfect Snowboys to unlock DIY recipes and get Large Snowflakes.
- Shoot down flying Balloon Presents for Snowflake DIY recipes.
- Catch Snowflakes in the air with your net.
- Find and catch the Dung Beetle with your net.
But there’s good news too! Beginning on February 25th, when the first day of Spring begins in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, a fresh new set of Young Spring Bamboo seasonal items will become available on your island when hitting bamboo trees with an axe.
If you’ve been playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons since the very beginning last year, these items won’t be new to you and it’s likely you already have unlocked most of them. But for anyone who’s joined in during the past eight or so months, you can look forward to more new items!
Check out our complete Young Spring Bamboo guide here, or stay tuned for a follow-up article later this week when the Spring season begins. And a little later in April, the Cherry Blossom Petals will land too!
In addition to the new seasonal items, we’ll see plenty of new bugs, fish, and sea creatures return from their winter hibernation as well once March begins with more appearing throughout the season.
Let us know in the comments below if you’re excited as we are for Spring to arrive on your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island, or if you’ll miss the snow!

What About The Southern Hemisphere?
For players in the Southern Hemisphere, it’s currently still the Summer season for another week or so with Summer Shells available on your island’s shores and sharks aplenty.
Beginning on March 1st though, the leaves around your island will begin to turn brown as you enter the Autumn season with Acorns & Pine Cones appearing when shaking trees.
