How To Find Gulliver

Gulliver can be found washed up ashore on your island’s beaches in Animal Crossing: New Horizons on random days starting from 5AM until the beginning of the next day. Unfortunately, there’s no way to predict when he will show up, but we tend to find him once every 1 or 2 weeks.

The frequency of Gulliver washing up on your island can vary though, He’ll generally appear during weekdays, but can appear on weekends when you’re early in your island’s development before unlocking Daisy Mae and K.K. Slider.

When you do spot Gulliver washed up on your island beach, talk to him (or whack him with a net for fun!) repeatedly until he fully wakes up and begins a conversation with you.

He’ll inform you of his unfortunate troubles getting thrown overboard from his ship, and then pull out his NookPhone to communicate back with the ship only to find it broken!

How To Find & Collect Communicator Parts

To help Gulliver fix his NookPhone in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and get back in touch with his shipmates out at sea, you’ll need to find and collect Five Communicator Parts for him.

You can find these Communicator Part items hidden deep in the sand on your island’s beaches out of plain sight. To find them, walk over your beaches until you spot a squirting water stream coming out of the sand somewhere.

When you spot one of these indicators, take out your Shovel tool and dig in the exact spot you noticed activity in the sand! If you found it correctly, you should find and dig up a Communicator Part.

It’s possible that you’ll find a Manila Clam instead, which can be very helpful for crafting Fish Bait, but that’s no good for helping out Gulliver. If this happens, just keep searching your beach for another spot.

Continue looking for more squirting water locations on your island’s beaches, and be sure to check all three beach sides, until you’ve collected five Communicator Parts!

Once you’ve got yourself five of these handy parts stored in your inventory, head back to the area where you first found Gulliver earlier and talk to him. He’ll be pleased to take those Communicator Parts from you and send a reward to you in your mailbox the next day! Continue reading further sections in this guide for more information on possible prizes from Gulliver.

Gulliver Rewards

There are three different types of rewards you can get from helping out Gulliver in Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH)!

Gulliver Souvenirs From Around The World

Each time that you help fix Gulliver’s NookPhone with Communicator Parts, he’ll mail you a Souvenir item reward in the mail. These unique items are themed to different locations and cultures around the world from his extensive travels!

Souvenir items are exclusive to Gulliver and cannot be acquired in any other way, in addition to being un-orderable in the Nook Shopping catalog, so you should definitely hang onto them in your storage as you can’t get them again easily.

From our experience, Gulliver is kind enough to refrain from giving you duplicate variants until you’ve received every completely unique item first. If you’re looking to get every furniture item once, this is great! However, if you want multiple of a single item, then this could be quite bothersome and increase the grind.

When it comes to furniture items from Gulliver, some souvenirs have different color variations, but you can customize them yourself at a DIY Crafting workbench so it doesn’t really matter which one he gives you. For hat items though, you must get the color you want from Gulliver as they cannot be manually customized by you.

In total, there are 30 completely unique Gulliver items to obtain, or 78 items if you include every different color variation. Given that Gulliver can appear as infrequently as once per two weeks in our experience, it could take you more than half a year to acquire all 30 unique items!

Find Rusted Parts In The Recycle Bin

Another reward you can receive from helping Gulliver on your beach is receiving special Rusted Part items! Each time that you assist Gulliver, you will find a handy Rusted Part item inside the Recycling Box at Resident Services.

Rusted Parts can be used to craft hard to get items like the giant Robot Hero furniture, and in fact you’ll need 30 Rusted Parts to craft it, so be sure to hang onto these valuable parts!

Unlock The Golden Shovel DIY Crafting Recipe

After you assist Gulliver with his troubles by collecting Communicator Parts for him 30 different times, he’ll reward you with a special letter in the mail the next day!

Inside this letter, Gulliver will thank you for all of your repeated help so many times and include the special Golden Shovel DIY Crafting recipe inside the letter as a present.

You can craft the Golden Shovel using 1 Gold Nugget and 1 Shovel. Check out our complete guide to Golden Tools in Animal Crossing: New Horizons here. (image via GameWith)
