Sanrio Villagers, Furniture, Clothing List: How To Get Everything
The Sanrio Villagers & Items are special collaboration items from Amiibo Cards in Animal Crossing: New Horizons! Learn about all of the Sanrio content and how to get it in this guide.
These new villagers and items were added in Version 1.9.0, known as the March Sanrio Update, released on March 18th, 2021. Your copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons must be updated to access this content.
How To Get Sanrio Villagers & Items
To invite the six Sanrio-inspired villagers (Rilla, Marty, Étoile, Chai, Chelsea, Toby) or order their associated furniture and clothing items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you need to scan one of the Sanrio Amiibo Cards on your Nintendo Switch. The villager and items unlocked corresponds with each of the six different cards.
Sanrio Amiibo Cards can be scanned at either the Nook Stop Terminal in Resident Services using ‘Invite Amiibo Camper’ or Photopia on Harvey’s Island. If your goal is to invite a villager to your island, you’ll need to use the Nook Stop Terminal. If you just want the Sanrio items, then Photopia works well and unlocks additional Poster items.
When scanned for the first time, the Sanrio items are unlocked for your character and can be purchased from the Promotion and Poster tabs in Nook Shopping at any time for various amounts of Bells. Sadly, the daily catalog order limit of 5 per day applies to Sanrio items, just like Super Mario items.
If you want a Sanrio villager to move to your island as a full-fledged resident, you’ll need to head over to the campsite after scanning their amiibo card at the Nook Stop Terminal and woo the villager by crafting items for them over the course of three days.
What Are Sanrio Amiibo Cards?
If you’re not familiar, amiibo cards are a series of collectibles sold by Nintendo that can interact with Animal Crossing: New Horizons when touched to the Nintendo Switch’s right control stick, or logo on Pro Controller.
The Sanrio Amiibo Cards are a special collaboration set of six cards themed to each of the Sanrio villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. For details on where to buy Sanrio Amiibo Cards, see our guide here.
Getting Sanrio Items & Villagers Without Amiibo
Despite being unlocked with amiibo cards, any item that can be dropped on the ground in Animal Crossing: New Horizons can technically be traded, so there’s nothing stopping you from getting the Sanrio furniture and clothing items from other players without owning the Sanrio Amiibo Cards.
However, it’s important to note that the Sanrio items cannot be ‘catalogued’ and ordered later yourself unless you’ve scanned the cards — so you will need to trade for the actual items, not simply the right to pick them up and re-drop.
It’s not possible to trade or adopt the Sanrio villagers from another player in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This effectively means that you can only have Rilla, Marty, Étoile, Chai, Chelsea, Toby living on your island if you get your hands on the Sanrio Amiibo Cards.
